Sync Error: Cannot Merge List Elements

The examples in this support article are for estimates, but it is the same for invoices.

Here's an example of this error message:

Processing estimate #E220517722.
Retrieving customer information
Updating customer information
SYNC ERROR: Could not update the information for customer. Details: There was an error when modifying a Customers list, element "800018E2-1647463866". QuickBooks error message: Cannot merge list elements.

 

At first glance, this error message doesn't make any sense.

But here's what it means.

 

The error occurs when we are trying to update the customer on Estimate E220517722.

This error means that in QuickBooks, the customer that InvoiceASAP has on estimate E220517722 has been merged with another customer.

 

Here's a screen shot of estimate E220517722.

The customer is Jerry J. Jackson.

The Sync Error means that the customer, Jerry J. Jackson in InvoiceASAP has been merged with another customer in QuickBooks.

 

If I search for "Jackson" in QuickBooks, I find several customers with the last name of Jackson, and one of them is Jerry John Jackson Co.

In InvoiceASAP, I will also search for Jackson.

I can see that I have Jerry John Jackson Co and Jerry J. Jackson, and they both have the same email address.

From this, I can surmise that Jerry J Jackson has been merged into Jerry John Jackson Co. in QuickBooks..

 

To resolve this sync error, in InvoiceASAP, merge Jerry J. Jackson into Jerry John Jackson Co.  

Here's how:  Merge Customers

 

Merging Jerry J. Jackson into Jerry John Jackson Co automatically updates any invoices & estimates.

When you run the sync, this will resolve the error.
