Discounting options

While there is currently a hack method to apply discounts (https://invoiceasap.zendesk.com/entries/21943991-How-do-I-apply-a-Discount-) it is quite cumbersome if a business needs more flexibility when giving discounts. 

Ex. We have different discounts applied to the same product depending on the circumstance, we would like to create overall discounts applied to the whole invoice (ex. 10% loyalty discount), 100% discount for donations while still tracking the sale with an invoice.

It would be more useful to have a sub-button that allows you to apply a dollar or percent discount to an item, or a dollar or percent discount to an entire invoice purchase (lots of point-of-sale software has this functionality ex.ShopKeep).

  I'm new here so maybe this was added recently but I just named my discount ("Senior")in the services section and assigned a negative dollar amount (-5)

  This seemed to work for me in the sample invoices I printed.

  Hey Jeff, I think that is the suggested method for applying discounts.  Our discounts vary quite a bit and are both $ amounts and percentages.  It seems ridiculous to have to create different discount items for each amount you want to offer.

  I'm sorry if this was covered.  In the link on the OP it said something about entering a negative quantity in order to reflect a negative dollar amount.  I did not have to do that just added the negative amount when I created the service.  Of course this amount can be changed when adding to the invoice to reflect a different dollar amount, not sure how the percentage discount can be easily accomplished.

  Hi Jeff, I give rebates/discounts by having an item with a negative amount. This is all great until you try and sync with an accounting package. Quickbooks reckoned it was an error so just failed to include that item.
